Kids Really Like Farts
We were thrilled to be invited as Guests of Honour to The Buchan School Prize Giving.
As part of our role, we shared a few words with the children, but in true Hello Little People style, we wanted to write a speech that was a little bit different. This meant writing a poem to share a few nuggets we have learnt on our journey.
We received such lovely comments following our performance that we wanted to share our words far and wide. Enjoy!
Rather than go on at you,
Until your bums go numb,
We’d like to share a thing or two
That keeps life really fun.
We believe in what you can achieve
From the bottom of our hearts,
Here is what we learned along the way,
Firstly, kids really like farts.
Take pride in what you do
Don’t forget to say please and thank you
Work hard, have fun
Share stories, eat ice cream in the sun
Never stop playing,
Whether its music, writing, drawing or sport,
Know that everyone around you
Will give their full support.
Be brave, have courage,
Spend time with those who make you laugh,
Your ideas are brilliant!
Go on, stick your neck out like a giraffe
Jump in with two feet
Say yes and give things a go!
You are so lucky to be here,
Everything: you don’t have to know.
And remember, if you get fed up,
bored or in a huff,
Its okay to take a break
Remember, you - are enough.
You don’t have to be anyone else
Except who you are
Like what you like
Peppa pig! Dancing! Guitar!
You might like horse riding
Or laughing out loud
Spotting trains, playing games
Flying high up in the clouds
Whatever it is
That sets your heart on fire
Follow it and love it
You will find your life’s true desire
You see,
Life is full of choices
and you get to make them.
Glass ceilings and barriers,
And you get to break them.
Growing up
is not just all boring
Work, cars and bills
And really loud snoring
No, It’s colours and songs
Places to travel
Creativity is key
To help it all unravel
It’s new ideas
And trying things out
Play and happiness
Is what life’s about.
So as you look forward
To your bright futures ahead
Know that it's all out there for the taking
And trust what’s in your head
You are the future,
The shining bright stars,
Ready to change the world
And then onto Mars.
We all believe in what you can achieve
And we’ll help you on your way,
Get ready to change the world.
